Buying a pet through puppy classifieds is not a good idea, a reputable kennel won't sell its dogs through the newspaper.
As this breed is very popular, many people raise dogs for money without caring much for their health and well being. You’d better not trust ads in local newspapers or Internet sites that are aimed at advertising the dogs, without giving much information on the kennel. Never trust kennels that are ready to ship their dogs to buyers without seeing them. Such breeders care for profit only, but not for the well being of their dogs. Never buy a purebred dog on impulse, but read a lot about the breed before purchasing a dog.

There are many reasons why purebred pets of this breed are surrendered to rescues. Very rarely, high quality animals are available for adoption. Show dogs may be surrendered because of financial or personal problems their previous owners had, such as divorce, allergy or a new baby. It often happens that a dog was bought from a pet store or from an irresponsible breeder and has behavior problems. Such animals are usually difficult to housebreak and train, because they were not given enough attention and care. Problematic dogs are rehabilitated for some time in foster families.
